UAE Tourist Visa – Everything You Need to Know

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the world's most visited destinations, attracting over 17 million tourists each year to iconic cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Whether you're visiting for leisure, business, shopping, or a stopover layover, understanding UAE visa requirements is the first step to a smooth trip.

At Arihant Travel, we have been helping travelers obtain UAE visas with zero document rejections through our expert team of visa consultants. We handle the full process — from document verification to embassy submission — so you don't have to worry about a thing.

The UAE offers several visa categories depending on your nationality, purpose of visit, and length of stay. The most common is the UAE Tourist Visa, available as a 30-day or 60-day option. For frequent travelers, a 5-year multi-entry visa is also available. GCC country residents have the added advantage of an e-visa processed in just 24–48 hours.

Know Before You Go

Important UAE Visa Rules & Regulations

Understanding UAE visa rules helps you avoid fines, bans, and complications. Here's what every traveler must know.

Overstay Fines

Overstaying your UAE visa results in a fine of AED 50 per day, plus a one-time AED 100 penalty on the day of expiry. Severe overstay can lead to detention and a re-entry ban. Always extend or renew your visa before it expires.

Visa Extension Rules

Both 30-day and 60-day tourist visas can be extended once for an additional 30 days, from within the UAE. Extension must be applied for before the visa expiry date. Extensions are handled online through GDRFA or ICA portals.

Visa Validity vs. Permitted Stay

Your UAE visa has two dates: the issue date (when it's issued) and the entry date (when you actually enter UAE). The permitted stay (30 or 60 days) starts from the date of entry, not the issue date.

Health Insurance Requirement

While not mandatory for visa issuance, UAE immigration authorities increasingly recommend or require valid travel insurance covering medical emergencies. We recommend a minimum USD 50,000 medical coverage for your UAE trip.

Financial Proof

For some nationalities, UAE immigration may ask you to show proof of sufficient funds at the port of entry. It's advisable to carry a bank statement or credit card showing a balance equivalent to at least USD 1,000–3,000 for the duration of your stay.

Visa Rejection & Refund

UAE visa fees are non-refundable in case of rejection, as per UAE immigration policy. This is why our document pre-check is vital — we review all documents before submission to ensure maximum approval chances for your application.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About UAE Visa

Find answers to the most common UAE visa questions. Can't find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp anytime.

Standard UAE tourist visa processing takes 3-4 working days. Transit visas are processed in 2-3 days. GCC resident e-visas are approved in 24-48 hours. Express processing options are available for urgent travel — contact us on WhatsApp for faster turnaround.

For Indian passport holders, the UAE tourist visa cost starts from AED 350 (approx. INR 7,900) for a 30-day single entry visa, and AED 550 (approx. INR 12,500) for a 60-day multiple entry visa. These are starting prices — the exact fee depends on the type and urgency. Contact us for a firm quote.

Most Indian passport holders cannot get UAE visa on arrival and must apply for a pre-arranged visa. However, Indian citizens holding a valid US visa, UK visa, EU Schengen visa, or a US Green Card may be eligible for a visa on arrival or special e-visa. We can verify your eligibility — just send us your passport copy on WhatsApp.

Yes. Both 30-day and 60-day UAE tourist visas can be extended for an additional 30 days from within the UAE. The extension application must be submitted before your current visa expires. Overstay fines of AED 50 per day apply after the expiry date. We assist with visa extensions — contact us before your visa expires.

The UAE overstay fine is AED 50 per day, plus a one-time AED 100 penalty on the expiry day. Continued overstay can result in deportation, detention, and a ban on re-entering the UAE. Always extend or exit before your visa expires to avoid these consequences.

Visa rejections are rare when all documents are in order. If a rejection does occur, UAE immigration fees are non-refundable per UAE government policy. We conduct a thorough document pre-check before submission to minimize rejection risk. In case of rejection, we'll help you understand the reason and guide you on reapplication.

Travel insurance is not mandatory for UAE visa issuance but is strongly recommended. UAE can be expensive for medical care, and travel insurance provides financial protection for emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost baggage. We can help arrange travel insurance at competitive rates.

New tourist visas must be applied for before entering UAE. However, if you're already in the UAE on a valid visa, you can apply for a visa extension or a visa change of status through the relevant UAE immigration authority. Contact us for guidance if you're already in the UAE.

Yes. The UAE offers a 5-year multiple entry tourist visa that allows up to 90 days of stay per visit over a 5-year period. Eligibility criteria may vary by nationality. This visa is ideal for frequent UAE visitors or those who travel to UAE regularly for business or family visits. Contact us for eligibility and current pricing.

The UAE GCC Resident E-Visa is a special electronic visa for expatriates residing in GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, or Oman). Regardless of your nationality, if you hold a valid GCC residence permit (iqama), you can apply for this e-visa. It's processed in 24-48 hours and is valid for 30 days, starting from AED 300.

Over 80+ countries receive UAE visa on arrival, including all EU member states, USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, and more. GCC nationals (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman) enjoy visa-free entry. For a complete list, contact us with your nationality.

Technically, you can exit the UAE and re-enter on a new tourist visa. However, UAE immigration may refuse entry if they suspect visa abuse (frequent short exits and re-entries with no genuine travel purpose). The better approach is to apply for a 60-day visa upfront or request an extension before your current visa expires.

When you apply through Arihant Travel, we provide real-time WhatsApp updates on your visa status throughout the process. Once submitted, the UAE visa status can also be checked on the ICA (Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship) website or the GDRFA Dubai smart app using your application reference number.

ICA (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) handles visa applications for all UAE emirates except Dubai. GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) handles Dubai specifically. Tourist visas can be processed through either authority; we select the most appropriate channel based on your specific case.

A hotel booking is recommended but not always mandatory for UAE tourist visa applications. For some nationalities (especially those requiring higher scrutiny), accommodation proof strengthens the application significantly. If you haven't booked a hotel yet, you can provide a tentative booking or a host letter from someone based in UAE. Our team will advise based on your specific case.
